Our team in Cape Town

Tony France is our tour guide and, like many of our guides, an ex-pat. For most of his working life he was a hovercraft pilot and consultant, before the lure of the Cape provided too much. In the mid-1990s he decided he just had to stay permanently, and has done just that. In 2005 he married Claire, a brave woman who manages to encourage his passion for motorcycles and touring, and keep sane. Tony has been running tours for most of that time with a small fleet of BMWs, and there is very little he doesn’t know about the local hotels, countryside, roads and people – an excellent host. Juergen Buchelt

Juergen takes care of our self-guided adventure tours. Born and educated in Germany, he took over the running of this after touring the Cape on holiday. A trained mechanic, he runs his workshop in untypically German orderly chaos. His great love is the great outdoors, and he rides and checks our adventure tour routes every year, improving or changing them regularly as new hotels and guesthouses become available, or with changes in the road infrastructure. Something clearly happened in Cape Town in 2005, as Juergen also married that year, with two dogs as family pets to show for his efforts.
